Today was suppose to be a lazy-sleep in-and-don't-shower-till-noon kind of day since Austin didn't have school, but instead, the boys and I spent an hour and a half at the pediatrician's office waiting for an antibiotic for David's ear infections.
Since my last post was so popular, I thought some of you might be interested in a play-by-play of this morning.

The doctor's office was packed, pretty much standing room only.... until one family made a big scene as they stormed out complaining that they had to wait 30 minutes to leave a urine sample. That was awkward... but it emptied three or four chairs.... Then there was the family of six with the wiggly one year old and the three school aged kids (who were tagging along for the ride because of parent-teacher conference day, I'm sure)...
My kids were good, of course... for the first 30 or 40 minutes that is.... Then Austin started engaging one of the other kids in the waiting room who had a toy gecko. David had been sitting quietly in my lap up until this point, but he just couldn't resist an orange plastic gecko, so he hopped down and started running around with Austin.
My germaphobe husband would have a fit if he had seen what the boys did for the next twenty minutes or so. Their little hands touched the chairs, the floor, the fish tank/ dinosaur terrarium and multiple magazines- you know, the ones that sick kids touch right before they get diagnosed with strept throat or some other infectious disease. We did a serious hand washing when we got into our room.
Well, finally somebody calls our name... to fill out paperwork... then we wait some more.... David gets called back, and the medical assistant thinks that Austin is the patient... Nope, it's David this time, so up on the baby scale he goes- 31.6 pounds. Wow! That's a five pound gain in a month, and Austin was only 34 pounds on the Wii Fit this morning, so I'm thinking today's weight was a little high (probably due to the shoes and sweatshirt :).
So before the doctor comes in, I prep Austin repeatedly not to talk to the doctor. This is David's appointment, not his. But, he just can't help himself when the doctor walks in wearing a headband with valentine antennas. Of course there is quite a bit of dialogue between the doctor and Austin about the funny valentine bunny ears until I can hush Austin so she can listen to David and check his ears. Austin is the talker of the family for sure.
David indeed does have a double ear infection, so we get our Rx and make our re-check appointment and we're done.
David fell asleep in the car on the way home. Thankfully he let me transfer him to his bed- shoes and all. I tried to remove the coat, but he wasn't going to part with it easily, so I relented. He is going to be so sweaty when he gets up from his nap.
