The Purpose of this Blog
We are the Goulds, and this is a blog about our life. Hence, the name- The Gould Life. My name is Emily, and I do the blogging around here. My blog serves multiple purposes:
1. To keep family and friends informed about our life and to share pictures and funny stories.
2. To serve as a diary of sorts so that I will have a record to look back upon once my boys are grown.
3. To share other information pertaining to coupons/deals, public education, my Christian faith, etc.

About the Grownups in the Family:
Joseph and I were married in 2004. We both went to college in Tennessee, where we grew up, and we moved to Louisville shortly after getting married. Joseph received an MDiv from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2010. He is also a night-shift daddy, working as a supervisor at UPS. I work two days a week for an attorney, and the rest of my time is spent cleaning, cooking, and running around town with our two boys.
The Oldest Son:
During my pregnancy with our first son, Austin, I developed a severe sickness called Preeclampsia. I was hospitalized and our baby had to be delivered prematurely at 29 weeks gestation. (2006) Our tiny newborn weighed only 2 1/2 pounds and was 14 inches long. He spent over ten weeks in the hospital, needing oxygen and other special medical attention. You can read a little bit about Austin's early days on my very first blog. While Austin had a rough start in life, he was a blessed addition to our family. When he was about eight months old, I began a new seminary blog. as a way to share pictures and stories with our family and friends.
Austin is in First Grade at the local public school, where he is making friends and learning to be a responsible citizen. When he is home, Austin is usually reading, playing make believe with his little brother or dressing up like a super hero. Austin is a fun kid, and he is a wonderful big brother.
The Youngest Son:
David is our youngest son. By God's grace, he was delivered full-term (2010) and proved to be a very happy and healthy baby. He is now a busy toddler who has a great sense of humor and is good at making us laugh. He is also very adventurous and daring. We are thankful that he has good motor skills and that he rarely gets injured while performing one of his dangerous feats. That being said, he is generally a mild mannered and compliant child. We just love his great personality!
The boys have some similarities and many differences. Austin is very talkative and outgoing. David's speech is rather delayed. Austin was a very demanding infant. David was more laid back. Austin had light blond hair as a baby, while David's has always been dark. Austin likes to make messes while David likes things to be more organized. It's amazing to see how each child is unique. They may be brothers, but they are definitely individuals.
