We are having a 3rd Boy!

Well folks, we are having another boy.
19 Weeks- It's a boy!

That's right, I'm totally outnumbered. Between Joseph and three boys, you won't be seeing any barbies or pink ribbons in our house anytime soon. Joseph said something funny on the way home from the doctor's office: "That means we can buy more super hero toys." I can't even tell you how many different versions of Spiderman and the Hulk we have laying around this place, not to mention how many versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was hoping maybe we wouldn't have to buy any more toys at all!

I got up early this morning. This hasn't happened in months. I've pretty much slept until 7:00 or later every day since November, which is unusual for me. Ever since I read a book called Shopping for Time back when Austin was a baby, my goal has been to get up at 5:00 or shortly thereafter. I really enjoy the peace and quiet that comes at 5:00 a.m. when all the boys are asleep (or still at work). This morning, I've been able to read my Bible, play on the internet, listen to some Sojourn music, have breakfast and write this blog post, and it's only 6:15 a.m. Realistically, with a new baby coming this summer, I know that these early risings are going to be few and far between for awhile (middle of the night feedings don't count!), but I'm certainly looking forward to when my body will let me get up early again on a regular basis.

David has started going to speech classes at a local public school, and he loves it. We weren't able to get a spot at Austin's school, so David has been able to take ownership of what he calls, "my school." (well, it really sounds more like "nine gool") He has made great strides with his speech since Christmas, which is very encouraging. I think he's finally hit the point where he is ready to talk, and boy does he have a lot to say!

One of David's favorite things to do these days is to draw. I find his scribbles on scraps of paper all over the house. Thankfully, he doesn't color on the wall or furniture, at least not on purpose. He uses lots of colors when he scribbles. It's very beautiful and abstract :)

Speaking of David, he has just emerged from his room, so I guess my free time is over for now. Have a good Sunday, everyone!

It's 2013!

I've got a lot of random things to write about, so here I go bullet style:

  • We decided not to send David to public preschool, at least not for now. His 3rd birthday is on Thursday of this week. We celebrated early with cake and ice cream over the weekend. We love our David!
  • Austin enjoyed his 2+ weeks of winter vacation. He started back to school last week, which has spurred me on to greater productivity and nesting action around the house
  • I'm 15 1/2 weeks pregnant (will be 16 wks on Wed) and feeling so much more energy the past week or so. I've actually been cleaning and cooking again. It's great!
  • We had a nice Christmas here in Louisville and spent some time with our families over two separate weekends in December. It's hard being away from family around the holidays, but that's life as a UPS employee. Somebody has to deliver those last minute Christmas packages.
  • We are officially members of Sojourn Community Church as of this past week. Yay!
That's all for now, folks.

12 Weeks on our 8th Anniversary

Joseph and I got married eight years ago today. We celebrated with Mexican food for lunch. Really, we celebrated in mid-October with our trip to Gatlinburg. The month of December is really busy at UPS, so we usually do something special at a different time to celebrate our anniversary. We always find time to go out to eat, though.

I'm also 12 weeks along in my pregnancy. I've never really understood the comparisons to fruit because I'm pretty sure my baby isn't as fat as a lemon right now, though he/she may be as long. I did come across a figure online that said my baby is about as big as a Vienna sausage. Now, that sounds more realistic.

I'm feeling pretty good these days. I just get pretty tired around mid-afternoon time. I'm not one who typically requires great amounts of caffeine, but I splurged today and got a fountain drink from the gas station. A Coke on ice never tasted so sweet.

Christmas is coming soon! We will be here in Louisville for the week and will be celebrating with family closer to New Years. I believe I'm all finished shopping- picked up the last of the stocking stuffers today. I like to get the kids juice boxes and individual snacky things in their stockings since I don't usually keep these kinds of treats around the house. This is the year of the Ninja Turtle in our house, so many of the boys' presents are along that theme. I'm excited to see Joseph on Christmas morning, too. He is a little boy at heart when it comes to retro action figure stuff.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Glad tidings of great joy...

I know my last post was a downer, so I promised the next one would be full of good news. I'm not one to disappoint, so here's the news:

We are having another baby!

Yep, Baby #3 is set to arrive by late June 2013. I am currently 10 weeks pregnant, and it's no joke when they say you start showing earlier with each baby. Here's what my baby bump looks like today. Now that the news is out, I can actually start wearing clothes that don't hide my growing figure!

10 weeks

For those who are wondering whether we were trying for another, I'll just say that this one was a gift. Call it an early Christmas present. It's definitely going to shake things up around here, but we are excited. I had a doctor checkup today and got to see the baby moving around on an ultrasound. He/she already has little arms and legs and was squirming around.

Happy weekend, ya'll!

Whew! November is finally over...

Whew! November was a whirlwind of a month to say the least. I don't think I had a single normal day all month long. I work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and my MWFs were booked up with doctor appointments for the kids and myself. We've met our deductible for the year, so I wanted to get as many appointments as I could scheduled before 2013.
